A mid-century G.E.C. (General Electric Company, UK) tabletop radio, model BC5645, dating from the mid-1950s. The unit is housed in a dark brown moulded cabinet with a contrasting cream-coloured front bezel. The upper portion features a large rectangular speaker grille with a woven gold and cream fabric cover. Below the grille is a glass tuning scale covering Long Wave, Medium Wave, and VHF/FM bands (88-100 MHz). The scale lists various European stations including London, Hilversum, and Paris. Two brown plastic control knobs are located on the lower panel. A small oval gold-toned badge at the centre base of the front panel is marked with the letters G.E.C.
