A Hitachi TRK-W540W portable double cassette stereo component system, manufactured by Hitachi, Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan. The unit is housed in a black plastic cabinet featuring an integrated carrying handle and two detachable side-mounted speaker units. The front interface consists of a four-band analogue radio tuner with a horizontal slide-rule dial covering FM, SW1, SW2, and MW frequencies.
The audio system includes twin cassette decks; Tape 1 is dedicated to playback, while Tape 2 offers record and playback functionality. Controls for the decks are mechanical push-buttons located at the base of the main unit. The control panel includes a five-band graphic equaliser, a sliding volume control, a function selector for CD/Line In, Radio, Tape/Continuous Play, and Dubbing, as well as a mode switch for Stereo/Mono and a radio band selector. A headphone jack is positioned on the lower left of the front panel.
The rear of the unit features a moulded label identifying the model as TRK-W540W and listing the frequency ranges and power specifications. The device is multi-voltage capable (110-127V/200-220V/230-250V AC) and can also be operated using eight D cell batteries (12V). The telescoping antenna is mounted to the rear.
