This single antique corner chair, also known as a roundabout chair, is designed in the French Provincial style. The frame is constructed from oak featuring characteristic bobbin-turned, or spool-turned, detailing throughout. The wrap-around back consists of two tiers of horizontal rails supported by vertical spindles and uprights. The chair stands on four bobbin-turned legs joined by matching H-form stretchers. The construction utilises traditional mortise and tenon joinery where the turned elements meet the squared blocks of the leg posts. The seat is hand-woven from rush in a traditional envelope pattern. No maker marks or labels are present.
