Octagonal occasional table and a vernacular side chair, both dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The octagonal table is constructed from mahogany or a similar dark-stained hardwood. The solid octagonal top features a decorative dentil-moulded frieze around its edge. It is supported by four turned legs that connect to a square under-tier shelf. This shelf is bordered on two sides by a small turned spindle gallery. The legs terminate in splayed, out-swept feet.
The country-style side chair is made from mixed woods, featuring a solid circular seat, possibly elm, and a frame of turned beech or fruitwood. The back is composed of a shaped top rail positioned over three central spindles, which are flanked by two larger turned uprights. The chair stands on turned legs joined by an H-frame stretcher.
