An antique circular spring balance scale manufactured by George Salter and Co. of West Bromwich, England. The instrument is constructed with a circular brass dial face set within a heavy-duty iron frame. It is designed for industrial or agricultural weighing, featuring a large iron suspension hook connected by thick chain links and a swivel joint at the top, with a smaller iron load hook at the base. The central brass dial is engraved with the text: No. 50 T, SALTERS, TRADE, SPRING BALANCE. The maker’s signature Staffordshire knot trademark is positioned between the words TRADE and SPRING BALANCE. To the left of the central spindle, the words TO WEIGH are visible. The dial features a circular scale graduated from 0 to 80, presumably in pounds, with further sub-divisions. The scale retains its original iron pointer.
