A galvanised sheet steel egg preserving pail of tapered cylindrical form, dating from the early to mid-20th century. This utilitarian vessel was designed for the long-term storage of eggs in a preservative solution. The pail features a fitted, slightly domed lid with a central wire D-handle. The main body is equipped with two riveted side lugs supporting a heavy-gauge wire bail carrying handle. The side of the pail is stencilled in black ink with the inscription: T.W. / EGG / PRESERVING / PAIL / 300. The construction displays typical industrial techniques of the period, including rolled rims and seamed assembly.
