This lot comprises three decorative metal signs featuring reproductions of notable British military recruitment and support posters from the First and Second World Wars. Each item is manufactured from printed sheet metal with rounded corners and pre-drilled mounting holes in each corner.
The first sign depicts the 1915 World War I recruitment poster Women of Britain Say—’Go!’. The illustration shows two women and a child looking out of a window as a column of soldiers marches into the distance. Inscriptions at the bottom identify the original publication by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, London (Poster No. 75) and printing by Hill, Siffken and Co. (L.P.A. Ltd.), London. The original artwork is by E. Kealey.
The second sign reproduces a 1915 war loan poster with the text Lend Your Five Shillings to Your Country and Crush the Germans. The graphic features a British silver crown coin dated 1915 crushing a caricature of a German soldier. The artist’s monogram B.P. for Bernard Partridge is visible. Marginalia credits the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee (Poster No. 94) and printers David Allen and Sons Ld.
The third sign represents a World War II Royal Air Force poster with the header The Men are Ready… and the footer Only You Can Give Them Wings. The artwork shows a row of RAF airmen in full flight equipment silhouetted against a blue sky.
