Lot 368: An Assortment of British Military and Civil Service Collectables including Civil Defence Corps Ephemera and Royal Navy Interest

Buyer's Premium:

A mixed collection of British military, civil service, and emergency services items dating from the mid-20th century to the 1990s. The lot includes a group of four yellow cotton brassards for the Civil Defence Corps Welfare section, each featuring embroidered crown emblems and dark blue text. One armband bears a reverse ink stamp for Lewis Falk, Ltd. with a broad arrow mark. Two civilian-type respirators are included, each contained within its original cardboard transit box with printed instructions by B.F.B. Ltd. Further civil defence equipment includes a sealed decontamination kit, personal no. 1 mk 1, manufactured by Remploy Ltd and dated 16 June 1990.

Of naval interest is a Christmas card from H.M.S. Cockade, 8th Destroyer Flotilla, dated 1952/1953. The card features a list of operational locations related to the Korean War including Chodo, Wonsan, and Chongjin. Military equipment comprises a Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) stable belt with a chrome locket buckle bearing the corps badge and motto Arte et Marte, two plastic baseplate orientation compasses (one marked Web-tex), and a sealed Joint Services camouflaged field dressing.

The collection is completed by a Civil Service Motoring Association chrome and enamel grille badge, a boxed set of gold-tone cufflinks and a tie slide commemorating a 50th anniversary of a Civil Service organisation, and a cast brass-tone belt buckle featuring an F-111F aircraft with the satirical slogan Warsaw Pact Central Heating.
