A Dutch Zaanse-style wall clock, representing a 20th-century interpretation of a traditional 17th-century Zaandam design, frequently attributed to makers such as Warmink or Wuba. The dark-stained wooden case is ornamented with twisted brass-style pillars and elaborate brass fretwork. The structure is surmounted by a cast metal figure of Atlas supporting a blue-painted celestial globe decorated with gold stars. The front brass casting features the traditional Dutch motto NU ELCK SYN SIN. The dial is composed of a silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five-minute increments, positioned against a dark velvet-covered backing with ornate brass spandrels at the corners. The hands are formed from pierced and scrolled brass. The clock features a mechanical, chain-driven movement powered by two heavy, pear-shaped brass weights. The pendulum terminates in a cast brass bob depicting a rider on horseback. The movement is visible through glazed apertures on either side of the case and features a stippled brass backplate.
