A late 19th-century French style mantel clock constructed from a heavy black slate case accented with variegated rouge marble panels and pillars. The clock features a white enamel chapter ring with black Roman numerals and an open centre displaying a visible Brocot escapement. The movement is a mechanical eight-day two-train type designed to strike on a bell. The internal brass movement plate is marked with the numerals 7 and 0, although other stamped marks are not clearly legible. The clock is accompanied by a winding key.
