A collection of fine bone china commemorative collector plates from the Heroes of the Sky series by Royal Doulton. The plates feature transfer-printed scenes depicting various aircraft of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, including the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster, and Short Sunderland. The designs are based on original paintings by the British aviation artist Michael Turner, whose printed signature is visible on the front of several plates. The aircraft are depicted in dynamic flight over coastal, rural, and airfield landscapes. Many of the plates are stored in their original white polystyrene protective inserts and cardboard boxes. Some plates are fitted with wire wall hangers.
