A small earthenware art pottery vase of bulbous globular form with a short flared neck and out-turned rim, produced for the Florian Ware range by James Macintyre and Co. The vase is decorated in the Dianthus pattern using the tubelining technique, featuring stylised floral motifs and scrolling foliage rendered in varying shades of translucent blue against a pale blue ground. The base bears a printed factory mark in brown within a decorative cartouche reading FLORIAN WARE, JAS. MACINTYRE and CO. LTD., BURSLEM, ENGLAND. It also features the printed registered number RD NO 326468 and a hand-painted signature in green script for W. Moorcroft. Additional minor hand-painted marks in blue and red are present on the underside.
