A Walter Moorcroft earthenware pottery vase of squat bulbous form tapering to a flared cylindrical neck. The body is decorated in the tube-lined Freesia pattern, featuring floral blooms and foliage in deep red and orange tones. The piece is finished with a lustrous flambe glaze, providing a rich, dark ground. The base bears a circular paper label with the royal coat of arms, the facsimile signature W. Moorcroft, and the text Potters to the Late Queen Mary. A secondary handwritten adhesive label identifies the piece as Moorcroft Freesia Flambe, dated circa 1950.
