A two-volume set of A Cyclopedia of Agriculture, Practical and Scientific, edited by John Chalmers Morton and published by Blackie and Son of London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, dated 1875. This comprehensive work covers the theory, art, and business of farming, featuring contributions from over fifty eminent practical and scientific figures of the Victorian period. Volume I spans entries from ACC to GYP, while Volume II covers HAM to ZEA. Both volumes are bound in the publisher’s original green decorative cloth, featuring blind-stamped borders to the boards and gilt-lettered spines. The work is profusely illustrated with numerous engraved plates and in-text engravings depicting agricultural implements, livestock, and methods, including detailed illustrations of horse harnesses, harrows, harvest carts, and mechanical chaff-cutters. Both title pages bear the handwritten ownership inscription of Arthur Glasspoole Wyndham.
