This architectural folio is titled Some of the Old Halls and Manor-Houses in the County of Norfolk, authored by the late Edward Preston Willins and edited by Thomas Garratt. It was published in 1890 by Jarrold & Sons, London. The volume is bound in publisher’s original blue cloth, featuring gilt and black stamped titles and decorative borders with thistle motifs. The title page incorporates an integrated map of the County of Norfolk showing the positions of the various halls and manor houses, signed in the plate by Thomas Garratt. The work is profusely illustrated with photo-lithographic plates produced by C.F. Kell from drawings by Willins, including views of Arminghall, Breccles Manor Hall, and detailed architectural studies such as the porch at Kirstead and doors at Ashwellthorpe Hall. The title page features a handwritten number 26 in red ink and a gift inscription in the upper right margin reading Tony from Douglas Salisbury 17.10.46.
