A mid-20th century stool or low bench constructed with a light-toned hardwood frame. The piece features a bowed rectangular seat rail inset with a decorative two-tone woven cord top. The cord is arranged in a complex multi-axial geometric lattice pattern in cream and pale yellow. The frame is supported by four square-section legs that taper towards the feet, reflecting the Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic popular in British furniture design during the 1950s and 1960s. The woven seat appears to be original to the piece. No manufacturer marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior or underside of the frame.
