This lot comprises three distinct wooden walking sticks of British origin. The first is a blackthorn hook cane, crafted from a single piece of wood with characteristic knobbly bark and a natural hook handle. The tip of the handle is finished with a white metal protective cap, and the base is fitted with a modern grey rubber ferrule. The second item is a folk art walking staff made from a light-coloured softwood. The shaft is extensively hand-carved with various patterns including bands of X shapes, chevron-style leaf or needle motifs, and cross-hatched sections. It includes a dark brown cord strap threaded through a hole near the top. The third item is a presentation cane featuring a smooth, L-shaped handle made from a light-toned wood such as boxwood. The wooden shaft is decorated with relief carvings within darkened cartouches, displaying the initials E W and the date 1898, alongside other characters that appear to read ALWA. The handle is joined to the shaft by a white metal collar bearing a four-line engraved inscription: W.H.BEST FROM S.E.WRIGHT. MARCH 1932. The base is fitted with a black rubber ferrule.
