A collection of approximately 45 items of military and civil service insignia primarily comprising cap badges and shoulder titles dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. The collection features representation from the British Army, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, National Fire Service, and Australian Commonwealth Forces. Regimental and corps insignia identified by visible inscriptions include The King’s Dragoon Guards bimetal horse badge, The Cheshire Regiment star, East Yorkshire Regiment, Gloucestershire Regiment including sphinx-on-plinth examples, East Lancashire Regiment, and The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment) featuring a central red enamel rose. Supporting corps and services represented include the Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Army Service Corps, Royal Engineers with GvR and GvIR cyphers, and the Royal Artillery with crossed cannons. Additional items include an Australian Military Forces Rising Sun hat badge, a World War II era National Fire Service star, and a diamond-shaped blue enamel National Reserve Staffordshire badge. The collection also contains brass shoulder titles for ASC, RB, and VR, as well as a marksman’s crossed rifles badge. Of further interest are several foreign or commemorative items, including a starburst badge with a double-headed eagle shield and a circular badge featuring a stylized wing and dagger. A small brass-framed oval portrait miniature of a woman in early 20th-century dress is also included. The items are variously constructed from brass, bimetal, white metal, and enamel.
