This assortment of mid-Victorian earthenware vessels features a variety of decorative techniques, with each piece fitted with a hinged metal lid and ornamental finial. One tall, slender jug is decorated with high-relief moulded wheat stalks and large acanthus-style leaves, accented with gilded highlights and a branch-form handle. The base of this jug bears a diamond registration mark indicating a design registration date of 20 February 1850, along with a handwritten gold mark reading 12’68 1/4 over an i. Another large cylindrical jug features a textured orange peel ground with relief-moulded and hand-coloured decoration depicting hummingbirds and flowering vines in shades of green, pink, and purple. A bulbous jug is moulded with a pattern of vertical ribbing intersected by a central horizontal basketweave band. The teapot is decorated with the transfer-printed and hand-coloured Pekin pattern, showing Oriental figures in a garden setting, with geometric borders on the spout and handle. The base of the teapot carries a circular mark for PEKIN and H. B. & Co, identifying the manufacturer as Hickman & Brown of Longton, Staffordshire.
