A pair of large decorative ceramic vases of baluster form, featuring flared scalloped rims and circular bases. The vases are constructed from white ceramic earthenware and are ornately decorated with hand-painted polychrome floral motifs including pink peonies, blue forget-me-nots, and yellow blossoms amongst green foliage. Each vase features two primary circular cartouches or reserves framed by golden-yellow scrollwork. These reserves depict a traditional Japanese landscape scene with a red five-storey pagoda, a winding blue river crossed by a bridge, and a mountainous background. The base of each vase bears a distinctive maker’s mark consisting of a red square containing a blue stylized monogram, positioned above blue script in a bamboo-style font.
