An assortment of glazed earthenware character jugs manufactured by Royal Doulton, England. The collection includes one large jug and multiple smaller examples. The subjects represented include the character Toby Philpots, finished in a high-gloss brown glaze with hand-painted facial details, along with smaller jugs depicting The Cardinal in a deep red hat, Granny in a green headscarf, and figures representing Robin Hood and a Musketeer. Each jug is designed with the character’s head forming the vessel body and the headwear creating the rim and spout. The bases feature the green printed Royal Doulton lion and crown backstamp. The large Toby Philpots jug is specifically marked with the registered number 782778 and the model code D5327. Several smaller jugs bear the capital letter A mark beside the backstamp, a variant used by the factory between approximately 1939 and 1955.
