A single Moorcroft earthenware candlestick decorated in the Pomegranate pattern. The form consists of a flared circular pedestal base, a short tapering neck, and a wide rounded sconce. The hand-painted, tube-lined decoration features whole and sliced pomegranates amongst dark berries and leaves, set against a rich cobalt blue ground. The underside of the base bears a green stamped MOORCROFT BURSLEM mark and impressed numerical marks, likely 88. A dealer’s label is present on the base, identifying the pattern and attributing the piece to circa 1915.
