This pair of heavy-duty industrial battery chargers was manufactured by F.C. Heayberd and Co. Ltd. of London. Each unit is housed in a rectangular, vented sheet metal cabinet with a grey-green painted finish. The front panels feature a central brass nameplate inscribed HEAYBERD, BATTERY CHARGER, VOLTS 200/250, 50 CYCLES, and F.C. HEAYBERD and CO. LTD. LONDON. Directly above the nameplate is a circular glass-faced analogue ammeter with a scale ranging from 0 to 5 Amperes, bearing the Heayberd logo at the centre of the dial. Control interfaces include a large bakelite rotary mains switch marked ON and OFF, a horizontal sliding control marked INCREASE, and multiple brass terminals for electrical connection. Small instructional plates are mounted at the bottom right; one unit is inscribed TO CHARGE 5 LEAD ACID CELLS OR 10 NIFE CELLS AT 3A/50mA, while the adjacent unit has similar instructions, appearing to reference 6 lead acid cells. The cabinets are constructed with four small feet and two perforated mounting lugs at the top corners for fixed installation.
