A large miscellaneous collection of 20th-century paper ephemera and photograph albums, primarily of British origin. The lot includes extensive bundles of handwritten personal correspondence, with notable examples dated February 1914 from barracks in Malta and December 1916 from Portobello Road, London. Two black cloth-bound photograph albums contain numerous captioned black and white snapshots documenting international travel between 1924 and 1931. Locations pictured include the Acropolis and Erechtheion in Athens; Roman ruins in Arles and Nimes; Avignon, France; landscapes in Beilan and Lake Antioch, Turkey; and various sites in Sweden and Germany including Gothenburg, Karlstad, and Goslar. Typed itinerary lists for these travels are included. The lot also contains a selection of vintage British newspapers and periodicals such as The Daily Telegraph, Daily Sketch, and a September 1969 Observer magazine supplement titled The People’s War. A political cartoon clipping from the Daily Mail dated 10 July 1952 by Leslie Illingworth, titled The Germ, is present. Further contents include a Barclays Bank Limited cheque book from 54 Lombard Street, London, vintage packaging for Ilford Selo films and paper, and a USAAF Airfields 50th Anniversary official souvenir map (1942-1992). Social ephemera includes several mid-century greeting cards for birthdays and anniversaries, including a hand-painted example from 1961.
