This lot consists of two wooden items: a novelty table lamp and a pedestal dressing mirror. The lamp base is constructed from an antique wooden bench plane mounted vertically on a circular turned wooden plinth. The plane retains its original wooden handle and wedge. The metal plane iron bears the stamped manufacturer mark for William Marples and Sons, Sheffield, including the Hibernia shamrock symbol and the text Cast Steel. The lamp is fitted with a square-profile moulded glass shade featuring a repeating geometric diamond-point pattern and a modern electrical cord. The pedestal mirror is a circular table-top or shaving mirror made of turned hardwood. The mirror plate is set within a wide, bevelled wooden frame supported by a turned pedestal column on a circular, weighted base. The reverse of the mirror is finished with a flush wooden backplate.
