A mid-Victorian mahogany breakfront wardrobe or compactum constructed in multiple sections. The piece features a deep, moulded ogee-style cornice with rounded corners above a central section with two arched mirrored doors. These doors open to reveal a hanging compartment lined with grey-green paper and fitted with two brass hanging rails. To the right is a tall wing section containing drawers fitted with turned mahogany knob handles. The wardrobe is constructed from mahogany with flame mahogany veneers used on the door frames and drawer fronts. The unit sits upon a conforming plinth base and the doors are mounted on brass butt hinges with a small brass escutcheon to the lock.
