An antique English gate-leg dining table constructed from solid oak. The oval top comprises a central three-plank section flanked by two semi-circular drop leaves, finished with a rounded bullnose edge. The table base features eight turned baluster legs, four of which swing out as gates to support the leaves. The legs are connected by a system of square-section peripheral stretchers. The timber exhibits prominent medullary rays and grain patterns consistent with quartersawn oak. Construction includes traditional rule joints and pegged tenon joints to the frame.
