A petite commode or bachelor’s chest in the French Provincial style, likely a mid-to-late 20th-century reproduction in the Louis XV taste. The piece features a characteristic bombé-shaped body and a shaped, overhanging top. It is constructed from a combination of timber and modern composite materials, finished in an off-white paint. The two drawers are of modern construction, featuring central guide slots on the underside and painted interiors. The chest is supported by four slender cabriole legs. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of ornate cast metal swing handles featuring scrolled foliate motifs with a darkened finish. No maker’s marks or labels were found during inspection.
