Buyer's Premium:

An Edwardian style oak pedestal desk of substantial proportions, dating to the early 20th century. The rectangular top features a moulded edge and a recessed border that originally held an inset leather or rexine writing surface, which is now missing. The desk is constructed with two pedestals on plinth bases, each housing four graduated drawers, flanking a central kneehole with a single frieze drawer. The drawer fronts are decorated with distinctive large carved wood cup handles in a shell or acanthus leaf motif. Two pull-out writing slides are located directly above the pedestals. The desk is finished to all sides, featuring recessed panels to the rear, making it suitable for use as a freestanding executive desk. An original vintage paper label is affixed to an interior panel, bearing the printed text PASSENGER TRAIN / B.R. INTERNAL TRAFFIC / CARRIAGE FREE / BR 470 and the handwritten destination TO STATION MASTER / ALTRINCHAM, identifying its historical use by British Railways.
