An antique domestic slipper box of rectangular form, constructed from stamped sheet metal, likely tin-plated steel. The hinged lid features embossed decorative lettering reading SLIPPERS in a stylized Art Nouveau font. The typography is flanked by embossed foliate and floral corner motifs. The box is constructed with a simple overhanging lid and internal pintle hinges. Traces of an original green-painted finish remain visible across the surface. This type of vessel was commonly used in late Victorian and Edwardian British households for the fireside storage of footwear.
