Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises a collection of seven items, including two First World War period British artillery shell time and percussion fuzes, likely of the No. 80 or No. 85 series. These fuzes are manufactured from brass and bronze with steel base components. One fuze body is stamped with the letters RAL, identifying the maker as the Royal Arsenal, Lancaster, and is dated 5/16 for May 1916. This example also bears the Canadian Government ownership mark, consisting of a broad arrow within a circular C. The collection includes four brass transit caps for No. 80 series fuzes. Conical in form with flared base rims, these caps have been repurposed as trench art egg cups and retain their internal central protective pillars. Also included is a circular cast iron or steel lid or cap, featuring a central rounded knob and a relief-moulded cruciform pattern with pebbled fields.
