A pair of landscape studies by Wendy Reeves (British, b. 1945), executed in pastel on paper. The first composition depicts an atmospheric mountainous lakeside scene, featuring sheep grazing in the foreground against a backdrop of mist-shrouded peaks. The second work, titled Sheep by the Gate on a verso label, illustrates a group of sheep on a dirt track lined with gorse and a stand of Scots pines, leading towards a wooden field gate. Both pieces are rendered in the artist’s characteristic soft-focus, representational style, employing delicate blending and a muted colour palette. Each work is signed W Reeves in the lower right corner. They are housed in matching gilt-wood frames with cream-coloured double mounts. The reverse of one frame bears a gallery label from Westcliffe Gallery, Sheringham, Norfolk, which identifies the artist, medium, and title.
