Start price: £5

Buyer's Premium:

A large porcelain vase of baluster form featuring a tall, slightly waisted neck and a wide, flared rim. The main body is decorated with a continuous narrative scene depicting various figures in traditional Chinese costume set within an architectural landscape featuring a pavilion and a large, stylized pine tree. The scene is executed in a palette of green, red, blue, and yellow enamels. The shoulder of the vase is encircled by a wide band of intricate black-and-white geometric diaper patterns. The neck is further decorated with repeating vertical rows of stylized foliate or pendant motifs, executed in black encre de chine. This decorative scheme and form are characteristic of Chinese porcelain from the 20th century, often associated with the Republic period or later production.
