A Portmeirion ceramic two-tier cake stand featuring the traditional The Holly and the Ivy pattern. The set is composed of two graduated circular plates made of glazed earthenware. Each plate is decorated with transfer-printed botanical designs depicting holly leaves with red berries and ivy vines with dark berries. Accompanying the illustrations is a flowing script containing lyrics from the Christmas carol, including The holly and the ivy when they are both full grown and Of all the trees that are in the wood the holly bears the crown. The stand is designed to be assembled using a gold-tone metal central spindle with a loop handle and associated washers. The set is contained within its original branded Portmeirion cardboard packaging with printed paper lining.
