Buyer's Premium:

A pair of miniature Moorcroft pottery vases featuring tube-lined decoration. The first vase is of footed, tapering form with a flared rim, decorated in the Orchid pattern with hand-painted blooms in shades of pink, yellow, and purple against a graduating green and cobalt blue ground. The second vase is of ovoid shape, decorated in the Autumn Fruit pattern, depicting yellow fruit and blue-purple berries amongst foliage on a dark green and blue ground. Both pieces are constructed from earthenware with underglaze hand-painted decoration and finished with a glossy lead glaze. The interiors of the rims are glazed in dark blue. The base of the fruit-patterned vase is stamped MADE IN ENGLAND and POTTER TO H.M. THE QUEEN, featuring an incised letter C and a hand-painted blue signature for William Moorcroft. The Potter to H.M. The Queen mark refers to the Royal Warrant granted in 1928. The orchid vase retains a dealer label stating the pattern and a circa 1935 date.
