A 19th-century British school watercolour on paper depicting a tranquil rural landscape. The composition features a white-walled cottage with red brick chimneys nestled amongst mature trees. In the foreground, a small pond or stream is populated by several white ducks, with a narrow timber footbridge crossing the water. A small figure dressed in a red cloak or coat stands upon the bridge. The work is executed in a traditional Victorian pastoral style with soft washes of colour. The painting is presented in a wide cream-coloured window mount and housed within a decorative gilt-moulded frame featuring a repeating foliate pattern. No signature or date is visible on the front of the work. The verso is sealed with a wooden or cardboard backing held by tape and bears no apparent labels or inscriptions.
